Off-duty firefighters working overtime to save Sumner homes

Off-duty firefighters around the region came to the rescue on their days off to save homes threatened by the Sumner Grade Fire Tuesday and Wednesday. Firefighters have been working around the clock, on the clock, to fight the brush fire between Sumner and Bonney Lake, which has burned 800 acres, destroyed four homes and forced hundreds of evacuations.

Firefighter hospitalized for minor injuries while battling Manning Fire in Whitman County

A firefighter was injured while fighting the Manning Fire, the Southeast Washington Interagency Management Team confirmed Wednesday. According to a release, the firefighter was treated immediately and taken to a hospital in Colfax for minor injuries. Crews were able to treat the firefighter while maintaining the fire line.

Homeowners to be allowed back to Malden, Pine City for first time since devastating wildfire

Homeowners in Malden and Pine City will be allowed back into city limits for the first time since a devastating wildfire burned the majority of homes and buildings in the area. Level 3 evacuations have been in place since Monday, when the fire quickly swept through both towns. No one was killed, but only a handful of structures remain.

Sumner Grade fire triples in size, forces more evacuations

A wildfire that's forced hundreds of evacuations in Pierce County has tripled in size since Tuesday morning and is threatening more homes. The Sumner Grade fire in the Bonney Lake-Sumner area has burned more than 150 acres and destroyed four homes, forcing more Level 3 (get out now) evacuations overnight.

Washington wildfires: 1,500 firefighters on front lines of 'one of the worst nightmares we can imagine'

More than 587,000 acres have burned in Washington state since Monday, topping the half-a-million acres that burned in the state's worst wildfire season in 2015. Public Lands Commissioner Hillary Franz told Q13 News Wednesday morning that most of the state's resources are focused on the largest fire - the Pearl Hill-Cold Springs wildfire near Omak in north central Washington.
