The city of Buckley didn’t have to look far to find its new fire chief, promoting Eric Skogen from the No. 2 job to the fire department’s top post.
The fire chief position became available following the retirement of Alan Predmore, who spent most of his working life in a Buckley uniform. Following 13 years as a city police officer he switched to the fire/EMT operation and led the department for 23 years.

VIDEO: Firefighters fought a difficult blaze Wednesday night in the Springhill Drive loop just west of the SR 28 and 31st St. NW intersection in East Wenatchee.
The fire’s incident commander, Cam Phillips, says Douglas County Fire District 2 was notified of the blaze at 8:26 p.m. Phillips says the owners of the home had a camper and truck parked five feet away from the single-story house; he believes one of the two caught fire.

Chelan Fire and Rescue crews were called out to a second-alarm structure fire in the 400 block of Wyoming St. in Chelan Falls around 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
Chief Mark Donnell says the first responders found a 10-by-30 mobile home that was fully engulfed in flames.

Franklin County's Fire District 3 and the Franklin County Sheriff's office responded to a fire around 11 in the evening Wednesday, August 12.
Firefighters contained what they call a mysterious vehicle and brush fire near the intersection of Selph Landing Rd and highway 395.
Firefighters say someone driving by the area saw a truck on fire and called 911.

A firefighter narrowly missed what could have been a dangerous situation.
Sacramento Fire crews responded around 2:15 a.m. Thursday to deal with a pickup truck that caught fire near the intersection of Beloit Drive and Main Avenue
During the firefight, one of the tires on the truck exploded right in front of a firefighter.
