Tacoma woman accused of setting 5 Seattle police cars on fire

Police arrested a Tacoma woman accused of setting five Seattle police cars on fire during riots last month in downtown Seattle. According to the Department of Justice, Margaret Channon, 25, was taken into custody Thursday at her home in Tacoma. Channon is charged with five counts of arson. The police cars were parked around 6th Ave.

Orcas Island volunteer firefighters step up for virtual climb

Orcas Island Volunteer Firefighters are coming together to join thousands across the nation for a virtual climb this Saturday, June 13. The firefighters were originally slated to participate in the 29th Annual Firefighter Stair Climb with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Seattle this March but were put on standby due to COVID-19.

West Thurston Responds to Fire in Converted Shed in Grand Mound

A storage building that had been converted into a residence in Grand Mound was damaged Thursday morning by a fire, the West Thurston Regional Fire Authority reported. The fire was reported just after 8 a.m. Thursday in the 5900 block of 189th Avenue in Grand Mound. “Crews arrived to find a storage building that had been converted to a small home with smoke and flames showing in the upper floor,” according to a social media post.

VIDEO: Large fire destroys New York home

A large, early morning house fire destroyed a home on Hazel Drive in Putnam Lake on Thursday. With no fire hydrants in the area, water was carried in on tanker trucks. The family living at the Hazel Drive home were all able to get out safely, with no injuries reported. Putnam Lake Fire Department responded to the scene, with mutual aid from Patterson, Brewster, Croton Falls, and New Fairfield and Danbury, Connecticut.

New Tool Helps 911 Dispatchers Guide Callers to Closest AED

Emergency medical dispatchers across North America can now quickly direct 911 callers during time-critical cardiac emergencies to the closest automated external defibrillator (AED), thanks to the implementation of an AED geolocation plan by Priority Dispatch and the PulsePoint Foundation. The partnership between Priority Dispatch and PulsePoint allows 911 dispatchers to inform callers of the location of AEDs while using existing medical dispatch protocols within Priority Dispatch’s ProQA® software, with no changes to workflow—saving critical time during life-threatening emergencies.
