First came flashing lights, then the woop-woop of sirens as families, friends and neighbors gazed northward. No one along the Lynnwood street asked “Where’s the fire?” It was all for one bright-eyed boy, 3-year-old Eli Kincaid. As an impressive display of fire trucks, emergency medical vehicles and police cars rolled past the home of Jill and Tyler Kincaid, their son Eli was joined by loved ones in his front yard.

Washington and Oregon are expected to have the worst wildfire season in the nation, according to the Department of Natural Resources. Today crews cleared underbrush and small trees on a Nature Conservancy managed forest on Cle Elum Ridge, as part of its 20-year plan to reduce the threat of wildfires in Cle Elum, Roslyn, and Ronald.

The Stillaguamish Tribe made two donations to local fire districts this May, including a $180,000 donation to the Oso Fire District that will completely fund a new ambulance. The second donation was to the North County Regional Fire Authority and was for $300,000 meant to support their operations as well.
