King County records no new coronavirus deaths for first time in over 2 months

For the first time in over two months, King County recorded no new deaths from COVID-19 in its daily update. Public health officials said 86 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed over the past 24 hours in King County - but not a single death. It was the first time that King County had recorded no new coronavirus deaths in a 24-hour period since March 7.

State, firefighters prepare for 'extremely challenging' wildfire season

State leaders are predicting an extremely challenging wildfire season this year with drier conditions and limited help from the feds and other states because of the global COVID-19 pandemic, they said during a telebriefing with reporters Thursday. Fire departments and fire districts are already making changes to their approach.

Two people, three pets unhurt in Forks house fire

A mother, her daughter and their three pets escaped injury Wednesday afternoon when a fire of unknown origin severely damaged a home in the 800 block of Mayberry Street. Firecrackers exploded during the blaze, making Forks-area Fire District 1 Chief Bill Paul first suspect that ammunition was going off.
