Valley Regional Fire Authority ready to move personnel should COVID-19 wreak havoc

The COVID-19 virus has hit fire departments and agencies in other Western Washington cities from the Eastside, to the Puget Sound Fire Authority to Federal Way. To date, it has spared 125 personnel, among them 98 firefighters, who make up the Valley Regional Fire Authority, which provides fire and emergency services to the cities of Auburn, Pacific and Algona.

Spokane Fire Department shifting operations as it deals with quarantines of firefighters

More than 30 members of the Spokane Fire Department are in self-quarantine in an attempt to stop the spread of sickness amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The firefighters – representing about 10% of the department –were exposed to patients who had symptoms similar to COVID-19. As of Thursday morning, none of them had received a positive test for the novel coronavirus – though one firefighter is in the hospital.

One dead, one rescued in Marysville house fire

Firefighters rescued one man but found another dead inside a burning home in Marysville early Thursday. Firefighters were called to the home in the 7900 block of 72nd Dr NE shortly before 3 a.m. after getting a report of heavy smoke in the three-story house. Marysville fire crews found a man in a first-floor bedroom.
