A firefighter is being evaluated after sustaining a leg injury while battling a house fire. According to the Spokane Valley Fire Department, the fire, which broke out in the 15300 block of E 9th Lane, is now out. Crews are continuing to work to extinguish any hot spots. The fire started on the exterior back deck before spreading to the home, according to the Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a house fire in Spokane’s West Central neighborhood Wednesday afternoon. The house, located near W Broadway Ave and N A St, could be seen smoking from the outside. Firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames. Fire crews said the fire started on the front of the house and expanded to the second floor.

Several Spokane travelers escaped from a catastrophic fire in the Lincoln Hotel in downtown Seattle – but four other hotel occupants died and a number were still missing. Horrified spectators watched from the street below as one man and his 20-year-old daughter stood on high window ledges on the fifth floor.

A Metro Detroit company is building decontamination units to place in the middle of fire stations to ease those concerns. Anderson County Commissioner Tim Isbel from Rocky Top has reportedly designed and is working on constructing and distributing new full face covering helmets for first responders in the county. Isbel explained these helmets are a way to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. He said they’ve been approved by Anderson County Emergency Medical Services (EMS), as well the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
