Four people injured in fire at Tacoma apartment complex

VIDEO: Four people were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a fire broke out at a Tacoma apartment complex. Tacoma Fire Department public information officer Joe Meineke said the call came in just before 7 a.m., when firefighters were dispatched to the 5600 block of East Swan Creek Drive. Crews found heavy fire and smoke from the second floor when they arrived, and the fire quickly spread to a second apartment.

Fire-prevention efforts in Bellevue improve following addition of new officers

The addition of two fire-prevention officers to the Bellevue Fire Department has made a positive difference in the city, according to documents shared at the Jan. 13 extended city council study session. In part because of the hires, who were implemented last year after a 2018 authorization from the council, Bellevue fire completed all of its assigned fire-prevention maintenance inspections (1,452 buildings/4,966 tenants), according to meeting documents.

Strategic plan approved for Clark County Fire District 3

Clark County Fire District 3 recently approved a strategic plan for how it will serve its residents over the next five years. The plan provides a comprehensive look at the fire district’s current capabilities for operations, capital items and what is needed for the future. The plan also calls for annexing the City of Battle Ground to improve emergency services planning.

‘I would be dead right now’: Florida firefighters stabbed in ambulance recall attack, support

Two Jacksonville firefighters stabbed by a patient in their ambulance are back on the duty and speaking about the ordeal for the first time. Three and a half months after a violent attack, Capt. Latorrence Norris and Engineer Vincent Harper said they were dangerously close to losing their lives at the hands of someone they were trying to help.
