The Arizona Department of Health Services confirmed the state’s first case of the illness on Sunday, Jan. 26. Washington’s Department of Natural Resources recently awarded a six-figure sum in grant money to two wildfire prevention groups in Chelan County. The Chumstick Wildfire Stewardship Coalition of Leavenworth was merited $193,743 in All Lands Forest Restoration funding and $40,000 in Building Forest Partnership funding.

The City of Pasco awarded meritorious service medals to three police officers and two firefighters who saved a suicidal man who tried to jump off the Cable Bridge last spring. The event unfolded on the morning of Saturday, May 4 last year. Police said a 38-year-old man was outside the railing, sitting on the edge of the bridge when they arrived on scene.
