911 centers screen for coronavirus symptoms in southern Arizona

VIDEO: Operators at 911 centers across southern Arizona are screening calls for possible cases of coronavirus. The Arizona Department of Health Services confirmed the state’s first case of the illness on Sunday, Jan. 26. The following day, experts offered resources and guidelines from NHTSA Office of EMS for first responders to limit their exposure to coronavirus.

Protect the Protectors Telethon: Colorado fire department to become first in the nation to benefit from Shield 616, rifle-rated vests

New York Author Pens Children's Book in Supprt of FDNY Firefighters

Pelham author Jeanne LaSala-Taylor has written a just-released children’s book, “Just Bunny and the Great Fire Rescue.” Based on a true story of her daughter’s stuffed bunny being rescued from a burning building, this book provides a special thanks to firefighters everywhere for saving lives – and stuffed bunnies, too.

Follow-up: Over $400K in wildfire protection grants awarded to two groups in Chelan County

Washington’s Department of Natural Resources recently awarded a six-figure sum in grant money to two wildfire prevention groups in Chelan County. The Chumstick Wildfire Stewardship Coalition of Leavenworth was merited $193,743 in All Lands Forest Restoration funding and $40,000 in Building Forest Partnership funding.

City of Pasco awards 3 officers, 2 firefighters medals for saving man who tried to jump off Cable Bridge

The City of Pasco awarded meritorious service medals to three police officers and two firefighters who saved a suicidal man who tried to jump off the Cable Bridge last spring. The event unfolded on the morning of Saturday, May 4 last year. Police said a 38-year-old man was outside the railing, sitting on the edge of the bridge when they arrived on scene.
