Police and fire departments in one Pennsylvania city to use underwater robot for search and recovery missions

VIDEO: The City of Chester's Police and Fire Departments are using new technology for search and recovery missions. They're among the first departments in the Commonwealth to have their own underwater robot. Chester Fire Captain Kevin Postlewait went through training with the state-of-the-art robot he says will make his job as a diver easier.

VIDEOS: Crews respond to South Seattle commercial building fire, flames seen from flight

Seattle Fire Department crews responded to a vacant commercial building fire in the 4200 block of Rainier Ave South Tuesday night. SFD first posted about the fire around 6:30 p.m. The fire was then upgraded to a 2-alarm fire. SFD said the front side of the building collapsed. SFD also reported that one firefighter was injured and was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Fire destroys Burien Department of Corrections Office vehicles, declared arson

VIDEO: Authorities in Burien say an early morning fire beneath a State Department of Corrections building was intentionally set. The fire broke out around 6:48 Tuesday morning at the DOC Community Field Office on 8th Avenue Southwest near “Old Burien.” Flames quickly raced through three state-owned vehicles in the parking lot.

Cause of Nov. 21 fire at commercial outbuilding in Centralia hasn’t been determined

PHOTOS: Fire investigators have ruled the cause of a fire in a commercial outbuilding at the corner of North Pearl and Fourth streets in Centralia last week as undetermined, according to the Riverside Fire Authority. Fire crews were dispatched to the fire at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov.

A new kind of first responder in Renton

The way we are thinking about public safety in our communities is changing, and this is certainly true in Renton. During the pandemic, we saw our social systems tested and stressed as hospitals and clinics went understaffed and overloaded with patients. We saw our shelters for the unhoused reach capacity as they ran out of beds for those in need of a warm place to sleep.
