Fire marshal confirms hay fire south of Euphrata was intentionally set, sights set on finding suspect

Fire officials say another 1,000 tons of hay was lost to fire Tuesday morning south of Ephrata. Grant County Fire Marshal Bruce Gribble says fire crews were summoned to the area of Rd E NW near Rd 5 NW about one mile west of Dodson Rd. Gribble could confirm that the fire was intentionally set by a “handheld device” but the person responsible is still a mystery.

Ashes Disposed of Near Woodpile Nearly Burns Down Kennewick Home

A Kennewick family escaped harm, and their home serious damage, thanks to a neighbor who spotted flames outside their home early Sunday morning. Kennewick Police and Fire Crews say the family had removed ashes from their fireplace, and thinking they were out, placed them outside--but they were right next to a woodpile.

Washington state: NextGen 911 on the horizon

Making 911 as "smart" as your cellphone. That's the goal of first responders meeting Monday to learn more about Next Gen 911. This new system is already online in parts of three counties, Kittitas, Snohomish and King counties. It's called RAADAR, Real time Agency Activity Display and Reporting. What that means is from right here, NORCOM can see what police and fire are doing in those three counties.
