Photo: South County Fire rolls in new fire engine

PHOTOS: South County Fire welcomed its new fire engine Tuesday morning with a traditional roll-in ceremony. During the ceremony, those in attendance pushed the new engine into Lynnwood Civic Center Fire Station 15. The custom dates back to the 1830s and the days of horse-drawn equipment, which could not be easily backed into the station.

Manton Way Fire in Franklin County estimated at 5,000 acres; 30% containment

Franklin County Fire District 3 says that the Manton Way Fire between Mesa and Connell, as of Tuesday morning, is estimated at 5,000 acres. No homes have been damaged. San Juan fire districts recognized, receive FEMA grant

The four fire districts of San Juan County have received a regional Federal Emergency Management Agency grant to replace aging personal protective equipment for firefighters and increase compatibility between agencies, maximizing mutual aid throughout our islands while reducing costs to our taxpayers.

Flames, heavy smoke destroy several shops in Seattle; Two-thirds of Seattle's firefighting fleet responded

Several shops were destroyed by a major fire in downtown Ballard on the 2300 block of NW Market Street. The fire started around noon on Monday. Flames and heavy smoke poured out of the building. La Isla restaurant, Supercuts, Kitchen N Things and Octo Designs & Jewelers sustained heavy damage and are a total loss.

Florida fire department looks at staffing concerns after Disney gondola incident

Some people were stuck on the Skyliner at Walt Disney World for up to three hours on Saturday night. A union representative for the fire department that responded says they were prepared to rescue people off the Skyliner, but it never should have happened in the first place. “We were told that this would not happen, that this wouldn’t happen to the ride and within a week it happened to the ride,” said Reedy Creek Professional Firefighters Association Vice President Sean Pierce.
