Liberty Township (OH) Rolls Out New Fire Apparatus

The Liberty Township fire department took delivery on a new Sutphen fire engine that came in under budget at approximately $617,000, reports The Delaware Gazette.

The truck is more equipped and job-specific than the 10-year-old engine it’s replacing.

New power tools were also purchased with a $42,000 grant from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.

1948 Westville (Nova Scotia) Fire Apparatus Returns Home

Over 70 years after it first hit the streets, Westville's first custom-made fire truck has returned home, reports Halifax Today.

The Westville Fire Chief got an email notifying him of the ad, which said the truck was for sale out of Ontario.

Eventually, the post made its way to social media, where local restaurateur Rhonda Cougias spotted the 1948 GMC LaFrance Pumper. She and her husband felt that buying the truck would be a great opportunity to give back to the local fire department.

Canberra (Australia) to Trial Hybrid Electric Fire Apparatus

The ACT government has agreed to trial a plug-in hybrid electric fire truck in Canberra, reports The Driven.

The deal marks another step toward the push to reduce transport emissions. The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) work with Rosenbauer to engineer the “Concept Fire Truck” (CFT) for Australian conditions, according to ACT emergency services minister Mick Gentleman.

Just one of the PHEV firetrucks, which is capable of carrying current ACT fire services equipment, uses a diesel “range extender” but would see a reduction of diesel fuel used to the order of 185,000 litres a year, and 400 litres less engine oil a year.

Clallam County Fire District 3 neutral on treatment facility

Leaders with said they won’t take a stance on the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe’s proposed Medication-Assisted Treatment facility now or later. “We’ll never give a recommendation on whether or not they should have the facility or not. It’s not our place to say,” Fire Chief Ben Andrews said, in a Monday interview.
