Pants tossed onto candle spark fire at South Hill apartment complex

A resident who was simply doing laundry in their South Hill apartment caught some pants on fire, which turned into a much bigger problem. At 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Central Pierce Fire & Rescue crews were called to the 13000 block of Meridian Avenue for a balcony fire in a top-floor apartment. Firefighters arrived to find the flames had spread to the roof.

VIDEO: 3-alarm fire destroys abandoned mansion in Maryland

A massive fire burned through the abandoned Uplands Mansion in west Baltimore. Video from SkyTeam 11, Baltimore's only news helicopter, showed the three-alarm fire burning through the structure off Old Frederick Road between Edmondson and Athol avenues. Oklahoma firefighters starring in Killers of the Flower Moon attend special screening

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A special screening was held Monday night to celebrate Tulsa firefighters who are starring in Killers of the Flower Moon. The Tulsa fire union organized the showing, which is helping to raise money for the Osage Nation foundation. It took place at Circle Cinema and the screening was packed out with around 100 people.

Longtime Washingtonians will remember the major impacts that occurred 11 years ago with Hurricane Sandy. It set several records in the nation’s capital and ranks as one of the costliest natural disasters in U.S. history. Sandy was the strongest hurricane of the 2012 hurricane season as a Category 3 storm with sustained winds of 115 mph and a minimum central air pressure of 940 millibars.
