The building houses some of their larger training props, like a grain bin simulator and digital driving simulator.  

Volz says, luckily, a majority of their training props were out with instructors at the time of the fire.

He says a lot of the smaller props and the Digital Driving Simulator, worth around $100,000 were completely destroyed.

Located at 410 Horse Creek Road, the facility will greatly improve response times and staffing to the north and west growing population of Laramie County.​  

The new station consists of four eighty-foot firetruck bays with a two-story mezzanine for equipment, storage and training. It also features a residential area with a kitchen, day room and accommodations to sleep 12 firefighters as well as a walk-out basement that has additional room for multipurpose use, mechanical and IT equipment.

According to a post from the Village of Maine Fire Department Facebook page, local firefighters were notified at 4:45 p.m. of reports that black smoke was coming from the station.  

Officials said the fire began at the Department of Public Works building, to which the station is connected. The fire was contained on the DPW side, but the building had extensive damage. The fire station, however, only sustained smoke damage.

“Our 34 volunteer firefighters are on-call 24/7 and they’re ready to perform if needed,” Chris Fletcher, assistant master distiller for Jack Daniel’s, said. “We have employees from bottling to distilling to even IT, and they come in and train every Monday. They’re state certified.”  

The Jack Daniel’s Fire Brigade has been around for decades, prepared to fight any fire that may break out, and they receive special training due to how different alcohol fires can be to other fires, and they have a special training area to practice fighting those fires.

Three of the four charges against John Moats were dismissed, but he'll serve a ten-year suspended sentence for knowingly concealing stolen property only if he completes a one-year in-patient drug rehab program.  

Meanwhile, the Red Bird Fire Department is still working to replace the equipment destroyed by thieves. The have spent months replacing equipment and fixing two fire trucks that were stolen.  

"We've had a lot of donations that were given to us through this. And through that were able to get the trucks replaced equipment wise," said Brody Morris, Red Bird Fire Chief.

Morris said they received nearly ten thousand dollars in donations from all over the state.
