After reports from EMS personnel raised questions about the frequency of field officer assault by patients, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services conducted an internal survey. At a concert in Enumclaw benefitting the Wildland Firefighter Foundation Sunday, Director Burk Minor got a call about an Okanogan County fire chief that was badly burned in the Spring Coulee Fire. "I was ready to go on stage with 10,000 people and a burn survivor right next to me and getting the call about another one, it took me back to ground zero with that," Minor said.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson after he allegedly threw a "ball of fire" at the porch of a Grandview home. According to police, the house's garage was heavily damaged in the fire and two cars were completely destroyed. Jose Antonio Aranda Saldana initially told police he accidentally lit some papers on fire and that's how the garage caught fire, but later said he lit the fires because it would turn to gold.
