Spokane Fire Department responded to a fire in the 5000 block of North Stevens, arriving to a garage engulfed in flames and smoke. Crews from Fire District 9 showed up to assist, and the personnel noted that the fire was threatening to spread to the house nearby, which was evacuated as a safety measure.

A garage fire lit up the sky on Badger Mountain Saturday night. Officials say crews responding to the blaze were challenged by its remote location and the long winding dirt road that led to it. It was first reported just before 9 pm Saturday. Fire Spokesman, Jim Oatey says in a news release that the owner reported he had been working in the newly built garage, went home and returned to find it fully involved in fire.

No one was hurt when a Spokane Valley apartment complex caught fire Saturday night, though one dog was killed. The first crews to respond found flames on the first, second and third floors an apartment complex at 210 S. Farr Road around 7:15 p.m. Crews upgraded the fire to a second alarm, bringing in more personnel and equipment to help fight the flames.

Firefighters from multiple agencies in Benton County and Walla Walla could soon be heading home from California. A strike team left for California on Oct. 28 to help battle the Kincade Fire. Crews from Washington state are scheduled to be demobilized today. They are on stand-by as they wait to get word if they'll be helping out with another fire in the state, or they get to come home.

Royal City investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that claimed the life of a young girl. Around 3 a.m. Sunday, firefighters arrived to the Coachman Mobile Home Park in Royal City. The home, near Catalpa Avenue and Acacia Street, was close to other trailers on fire. According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, a 5-year-old girl was "trapped or otherwise unable to escape," they said in a Facebook post.
