RV catches fire south of Sequim

Clallam County Fire District 3 firefighters extinguished a recreational vehicle fire on the 800 block of Youngquist Road early Monday morning. Battalion Chief Chris Turner said firefighter arrived to the RV about five feet away from a wooden structure just before 8:30 a.m. Oct. 23. No occupants were inside the RV when it was discovered to be on fire, Turner said.

Dog dies in house fire in Kelso

A homeowner lost a pet in a house fire in Kelso Monday morning. At about 9:45 a.m., Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue and Longview Fire were called out to a fire in the 100 block of North Maple Street. Officials say a delivery driver reported a home was on fire and that it appeared no one was home. When crews arrived to the scene, they saw flames and smoke coming from the home.

VIDEO: 3rd victim dies after fiery crash on Northeast Extension of Pennsylvania Turnpike

A third person has died after a fiery three-vehicle crash involving a tanker truck on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. It happened late Saturday morning in the northbound lanes of the Northeast Extension (I-476) in Worcester Twp. between the Mid-County and Lansdale exits. Police say a vehicle was stopped in the right lane of the multi-lane highway due to a flat tire.

History of fire protection in one Michigan city reflects people, traditions of mid-1800s

PHOTOS: The history of fire protection in Monroe provides a snapshot of the people, traditions and events that shaped the city beginning in the mid-19th century. As was profiled on the city of Monroe website, fire service began officially in 1837. "The Pageant of Historic Monroe" talked about some of the early locations, including on the northwest corner of Public Square facing east (near where the current Michigan historic plaque is located at the corner of East 1st Street and Washington Street).
