DCFD ALIRT team to improve low retention numbers for volunteer firefighters in Kentucky

The Daviess County Fire Department has implemented a new program that officials say will be better for both firefighters and the community. The Daviess County Advanced Large Incident Response Team (ALIRT) will help to reduce firefighter injuries, heat exhaustion and fatigue during large incidents, and will give firefighters the chance to work alongside colleagues from various departments across the county.

Ammunition was ignited during motorhome fire on Blewett Pass

PHOTOS: Ammunition was going off inside a burning motorhome that shut down Blewett Pass for almost three hours last Friday. The 40-foot motorhome was being driven by 64-year-old Kim Michael Goodwin, 64, of Chelan. It was pulling a trailer with a quad when it broke down about 10:20 a.m. Goodwin pulled the motorhome to the side of the Highway 97 about six miles north of the summit as it burst into flames.

South County Fire teams try out new rescue craft during lake training

Update: Firefighters still investigating cause of Roche Fruit Company fire in Yakima

Firefighters are investigating the cause of a fire at a fruit packaging plant. The cause of the fire at Roche Fruit Company is still under investigation. The fire started Friday night around 8:30 p.m. Over 500 wooden bins were damaged. The fire department says the property owner helped move several of the bins - something that kept the fire from spreading.

Shreveport (LA) Voters to Decide Fire Apparatus Replacement

The bond issue on the ballot for Shreveport voters in November includes $16 million for equipment replacement, reports KEEL

There is also money in the bond issue to replace 3 current fire stations. Station 11 on Youree Drive would be rebuilt at a cost of $3 million. New stations will also be built to replace station 14 on Greenwood Road and station 15 on West 70th. Each of the new stations would cost $3 million.

There is also $1.4 million for fire station renovations & maintenance.
