Firefighter loses 3 children in Pennsylvania blaze as he responds to another call

VIDEO: Three of the five youngsters killed in a Sunday-morning fire at a Pennsylvania day care center were the children of a volunteer firefighter who was responding to another call several blocks away. The firefighter, Luther Jones, was with the Lawrence Park Volunteer Fire Department handling other calls while the neighboring Erie Fire Department battled the deadly flames at the Harris Family Day Care.

Lightning looked at as suspected cause of fire that burned home to the ground near Moses Lake

A two-bedroom home near Moses Lake apparently became a casualty of Saturday night’s severe lightning storm in north central Washington. Grant County Fire District 5 Chief Dan Smith says his crews were dispatched to the home in the 5500 block of Road 3 in Mae Valley at around 9:30 p.m. When crews arrived, Smith says 80%-90% of the home was consumed by fire.
