Fire Apparatus Retrofitted to Serve Beer in Toledo

 
 

But Kevin Mullan has no intention of fighting fires with his investment. Instead he bought the engine, retrofitted it with 10 taps and a climb-in cooler, and christened it Ladder 419 Beer Truck.  

“There was not a rentable [beer] truck in town,” Mr. Mullan said, “but there is now. Oh, and by the way, it happens to be a fire truck.” While the fire engine’s original look has been retained, almost anything to do with its original mission of extinguishing flames is merely cosmetic, including levers, gauges, and valves.

Blairs (VA) Fire and Rescue Receives New Fire Apparatus

 
 
 

"This is replacing a 1994 model truck that only two people could ride and had a smaller pump. This truck is capable of seating 6 men two in the front four in the back, all of them with air bags," said Chief Dean Fowler.  

The truck, which cost upwards of $500,000, was paid for mostly by the community it will service. Twenty percent came from Pittsylvania County, but the rest came from fundraisers.

Thurston County OKs fireworks in unincorporated areas due to low fire danger

Fireworks will be allowed in unincorporated Thurston County this Fourth of July. County code allows the county manager to ban fireworks in times of “extreme fire danger.” County Manager Ramiro Chavez said this week the fire danger is currently low and that is not expected to change based on the weather forecast leading up to the Fourth of July.

Making history: Mukilteo Fire Department has its first female fire captain

It’s rare for women to be in the fire service, but that didn’t stop Kelli McNees from joining and eventually becoming the first female fire captain for the Mukilteo Fire Department. The Mukilteo Fire Department had three new battalion chiefs and two new fire captains take an oath of office at the June 17 Council meeting.

Kirkland, other crews respond to two-alarm house fire in Totem Lake

The Kirkland Fire Department (KFD) responded to a single-family house fire at the 13300 block of 117th Avenue Northeast in the Totem Lake neighborhood the morning if June 26. The two-alarm fire began Wednesday morning and quickly spread to a neighboring home, according to a press release. Kirkland deputy fire chief Dave Van Valkenburg, who was on the scene, said one male and a dog were able to get out of the house and there are no injuries and everyone has been accounted for.
