Yonkers (NY) Donates Fire Apparatus to Puerto Rico

 
 

Nearly two years after Maria battered the island, the city of Yonkers is donating a used firetruck and equipment to the city of Carolina near San Juan.  

The nearly 20-year-old truck will serve as a backup truck for the Carolina Fire Department. The Yonkers fire commissioner says the truck has been inspected by mechanics to make sure everything is in proper working order.

New Kirkland Fire Station 27 land purchase one step closer to reality

The Kirkland City Council approved the purchase action and a sales agreement of a property that will be the home of the new Fire Station 27. The new facility at 13118 121st Way NE. will replace the aging building at 11210 NE 132nd St. City of Kirkland staff began their negotiations with the property owner in 2017 and have since reached an agreement on the terms for a purchase.

Spartan Emergency Response Receives Multitruck Order from the Wayne Township (IN) Fire Department

CHARLOTTE, MI—Spartan Emergency Response (“Spartan” or “Spartan ER”), a business unit of Spartan Motors, Inc. (NASDAQ: SPAR) (“Spartan” or the “Company”), has expanded its partnership with the Wayne Township Fire Department in Marion County, Indiana, with an order for three Spartan Star Series top-mount pumpers and for its new Ladder Tower 93-foot midmount platform which launched at the recent FDIC International 2019.

The Wayne Township Fire Department, which serves 36 square miles of the Indianapolis metropolitan area, currently operates a Smeal Sirius 75-foot aerial that has been in service since 2016. Additionally, the department currently has two Smeal Sirius top-mount pumpers on order, both of which will be in service by the third quarter of this year. The Wayne Township Fire Department has five fire stations, employs approximately 180 first responders, and is expanding its partnership with Spartan to help standardize its frontline fleet of fire apparatus, with the overriding benefit of providing safe and reliable equipment for its firefighters, as they serve the citizens and property owners of Wayne Township.

Unveiled at FDIC International 2019, Spartan’s latest Ladder Tower 93-foot midmount platform boasts a compact package with proven performance and long-term reliability for which the company is known. The unit is more maneuverable in tight urban and suburban environments, allowing for maximum agility and responsiveness in emergency response situations.

Lacey fire started in crawl space and spread to master bedroom, fire official says

A residence in the 7300 block of Autumn Park Drive Southeast was damaged by fire Monday night, according to East Olympia Fire District 6. That address is south of the Horizon Pointe neighborhood in Lacey. Fire crews were dispatched about 9 p.m. and discovered a fire that had started in or near the crawl space of the home, assistant fire chief Mark Nelson said.
