North Carolina fire officials demonstrate deadly dangers of leaving children in hot cars

VIDEO: It seems like an unimaginable act- a parent leaving or forgetting their child in a locked car. However, the Fayetteville Fire Department says it happens, more often than it should. "This year we've responded to nearly 70 kids that have been locked into vehicles here," said Fire Chief Mike Hill.

Firefighters Better Able to Track On-The-Job Exposures to Deadly Carcinogens and Other Toxins

Firefighters on the front lines protecting their communities now have a valuable tool for recording and providing evidence of work-related exposures to help protect them against deadly cancers and other occupational hazards in the fire service. The new National Fire Operations Reporting System (NFORS) Exposure Tracker is now available as an app for firefighters, paramedics or officers to create a personal diary for logging exposure and incident details in a private, encrypted and secure online environment.

Big Spring Growth Could Make For Big Fire Season At Hanford, Across The West

At the Hanford Nuclear Site in southeastern Washington, and across the West, winter’s deep snow and a cool spring have produced lots of brush and grass. That’s a problem for the coming fire season. Hanford and the region surrounding it is a desert. Sagebrush and bunchgrass stud the site. But there’s also a lot of invasive cheatgrass that forms a brittle shag carpet across the landscape.

Wausau (WI) Breaks Ground on New Fire Station

 
 

The current building is located on S. 32nd Avenue, the new facility will be nearby, just south of Seymour Lane. After nearly a decade of planning, the department finally broke ground for the building of the new station.  

Chief Tracey Kujawa said the station will have road access to Stewart Avenue to ensure fast and efficient service.
