Fire chief critical of new Electric City street plan

Fire Chief Mark Payne doesn't think Electric City should get rid of the Western Avenue branch of the Y-shaped intersection near city hall that currently branches into Western and Stevens Avenue. The plans that the fire district put before voters called for borrowing $3.7 million, which at current assessment levels would require a property tax increase of $83 per $100,000 value. The district will be taking $500,000 from a capital reserve account created for the building.
