VIDEO: The City of Fort Worth's fire department is training its largest-ever recruiting class, in an effort to keep up with the city's population growth.
Chief James Davis said he'd been trying to boost staffing for a couple of years, and the city council granted the budget after recent studies highlighted the need.

The Superior Fire Department will offer fire prevention training for home-schooled children in first through fifth grade from 1-3 p.m. Oct. 17, Oct. 18 and Oct. 19.
Training held in 2022 , the first offered by the department, welcomed 103 children to the headquarters fire station over two days.

Voters in the Newman Lake Fire District are again being asked to approve an increase in the amount of property taxes they pay for fire and emergency medical services. The November ballot measure comes after voters rejected two other levies in the last 15 months.
Newman Lake Fire Chief Daron Bement says his department is lagging far behind in what it’s allowed to collect in property taxes.

A 26-year-old man from Sedro Woolley was sentenced to four years in prison and three years of supervised release after an attempted arson at Queer/Bar, a nightclub in Capitol Hill.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Kalvinn Garcia pleaded guilty to setting fire to a dumpster in the ally behind Queer/Bar on Feb.
