The Red Wing Fire Department’s new fire station was open about 42 minutes when the first call to service came in.
“That first call, we were on scene in four or five minutes instead of 16 to 20 minutes (from Station 1),” said RWFD Lt. Trent Wentlandt, one of the ranking officer at the new fire station, which opened for business last Monday.
“It was a car accident, and thankfully no one was injured,” said RWFD Chief Shannon Draper. “But we were quick there to render aid.”
Dozens of volunteers showed up to the White Lake Volunteer Fire Department to help out Sunday after the roof collapsed during the early morning hours. The heavy snow is what caused the roof to collapse, a Facebook post by the fire department said.
A Miami Valley Fire District fire engine responding to a call was involved in a crash at the intersection of Lyons and Byers roads in Miami Twp. Thursday, according to police.
Everyone is OK after a crash involving a car and a Huntington Fire Department engine Friday. It happened at the intersection of 8th Street and 11th Avenue. 911 dispatchers say the call came in around 1:30 p.m. Friday. Huntington Police responded to the crash, but dispatchers say there were no injuries.
According to Huntington Fire Chief Jan Rader, Engine One was responding to a fire when the crash happened.
Rader tells WSAZ the vehicle was using lights, sirens and a turn signal.
The firefighters were turning onto 11th Ave. when a car ran into the fire engine. Rader urges drivers to yield to first responders to avoid accidents like this.
