Gun, ammunition stolen from firefighter's White Center home

A firefighter says his White Center home was broken into on Wednesday and several items, including a gun, were stolen. Colt Passey returned home from work to find the house he was living in had been ransacked and the back door was wide open. "Your most intimate spot has been invaded by someone and you get to go pick up the pieces of someone going through your things and looking through your pictures and seeing them thrown on the floor, and all your personal stuff strewn about," Passey said.

Stemilt Basin wildfire prevention plan could serve as state model

Chelan County Commissioners are meeting with State Department of Natural Resources officials to discuss planned forest health projects in advance of the 2019 wildfire season. Spokane Fire Department responds to Lewis and Clark science class for unsecured substance

The Spokane Fire Department responded to Lewis and Clark High School on Thursday after teachers discovered a hazardous substance, which is used in science demonstrations, had not been properly secured. In a recorded message to parents, Principal Marybeth Smith said the substance, which was not identified, was found secured behind a locked cabinet, but not in its protective sleeve.
