Spokane man treated for smoke inhalation after apartment fire

Spokane firefighters found a man suffering from smoke inhalation after they were called to an apartment fire early Sunday. Firefighters responded about 2 a.m. to the Mt. Vernon Terrace apartments, 3106 S. Mt. Vernon St., after neighbors reported hearing the sound of smoke alarms, according to a news release.

Clallam Fire District No. 2: New ambulances allow for quicker response time

Clallam Fire District No. 2 is reporting faster response times after the purchase of new ambulances. Chief Sam Phillips told the fire district’s commissioners last Tuesday that the two new advanced life support (ALS) ambulances have made getting patients to the hospital quicker than ever and that he believes this has improved patient outcomes.

Clallam County Fire District No. 2’s Explorer Post receives grant from Port of Port Angeles

Clallam Fire District No. 2’s Explorer Post will be more informed and better educated once they complete their training, funded by a $2,567 grant from the Port of Port Angeles’ Community Partner Program. The fire district applied for the funding in 2018 as it continues to train and educate future firefighters who are enrolled in Explorer Scout Post 1012, said Chief Sam Phillips in a press release.

Trump signs Cantwell bill requiring new wildfire technology, smoke forecasts

A new federal law aims to protect wildland firefighters by requiring agencies to outfit crews with GPS locators and deploy drones to scout out and map blazes. The Wildfire Management Technology Advancement Act, sponsored by U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., was signed by President Donald Trump last week after sailing through both chambers of Congress with large majorities.
