LION First Responder PPE, Inc., the largest family-owned manufacturer of first responder protective equipment (PPE) in the United States and Weinbrenner Shoe Company, manufacturer of Thorogood brand footwear have entered into a long-term strategic partnership that leverages the strengths of both companies.

Beginning May 1st, 2019, LION Fire Boots by Thorogood will be the exclusive certified boot offering for Structural Firefighting and Wildland/EMS boots. Weinbrenner will continue to manufacture and design their Thorogood fire boot line while LION will have responsibility for all sales and marketing. The initial six-style assortment of boots, previously sold by Weinbrenner Shoe Company, will be sold and marketed exclusively through LION via the combined distribution partners of both companies in the United States, Canada and Latin America.

LAKEVILLE, MINN. - ImageTrend, Inc. congratulates Epidemiologist Morgan Anderson, MPH, on being named as an EMS10 Innovator for 2018. The award recognizes 10 industry influencers who have introduced significant innovations in EMS in the past year. Anderson was nominated for her role at ImageTrend in leading the CrewCare project, a multi-faceted initiative involving a mobile solution for gaining insight, both personally and industry-wide, into stress loads, reasons for burnout and mental health concerns in the emergency response community. State utility regulators have opened a formal investigation into last summer’s fatal Sun Prairie natural gas explosion that killed a firefighter and leveled several buildings in the city’s downtown. The Public Service Commission voted unanimously Thursday to investigate a complaint filed by USIC Locating Services, the company that was contracted to mark the locations of underground pipes.

Alabama law enforcement officers have been the target of gun violence recently. Several officers have been shot or killed in Auburn, Birmingham, Mobile and Selma. Now, there’s work to add protection to law enforcement officers and first responders. Under existing law, the murder of a first responder is not a capital offense.

This is how bad things have gotten in Julian since San Diego County took control of the region’s last volunteer fire department eight months ago. When first responders went out on a call, someone would paint over the marking that reserved the new county fire chief’s parking spot at the fire station, which used to be manned by the local volunteers who resided in the popular tourist destination.
