Whitman County Fire District 12 bought a new ambulance to be housed at station No. 1, which is located on West Main Street.
The ambulance cost around $187,000, said Lee Druffel, Whitman County Fire District 12 commissioner.
“We were ready to become a transport agency,” said Mirenda Stenbakken, Whitman County Fire District 12 emergency medical services chief.

At least three boats were damaged in a fire at Seattle's Lakewood Moorage marina on Lake Washington Sunday night.
"The plume of smoke and fire going up into the sky -- you knew it was the marina right away," said witness Ari Hoffman. "'There was a two story boat that you could see was on fire -- you could see the whole thing going up.

A 40-year-old corporate jet pilot, is the new chief of the city’s 115-member volunteer fire department.
Mayor Richard Dziekan administered the chief’s oath to Robert Laskowski, Jr., a 22-year member of the East End Hose company, before more than 100 people Saturday morning at Derby Middle School.
Laskowski’s wife, Melissa, pinned the chief’s badge on her husband’s uniform.
