Mobile (AL) Council Approves Sale of Historic Fire Station

The picturesque but small station on Old Shell Road between Kenneth and Florida streets had been closed for some time, superseded by a new and significantly larger facility nearby in the Crichton area. The sale price, in a contract submitted by the administration of Mayor Sandy Stimpson, was $368,850. The station was built in 1930. According to information provided by Isakson, its architecture has been described by some an “English Cottage Style with Spanish Colonial elements" and by others as "Colonial Revival embracing Picturesque, Tudor, and Cottage elements with Spanish effect.”

Ready Rack Extractor

The Ready Rack extractor can wash one to two sets of turnout gear per load. Full wash cycle is 25 to 35 minutes. The unit comes with a manufacturer’s warranty on parts. The Ready Rack extractor is designed to be serviced by the end user. Total front access and simple design allows the user to maintain and service the machine without having to pay large repair bills. Ready Rack offers guidance on do-it-yourself maintenance and repair. All replacement parts are shipped factory direct by UPS to the end user.

Temperature controls affect the temperature of wash water only. The extractor is designed to use cold water for rinses. Hot temperature can not exceed 105° F per NFPA requirements.

Water usage controls regulate the amount of water entering the extractor during each fill. Use the high setting for all normal loads containing a fully or loosely packed tub. Use the low setting for loads containing only a few garments.

Wash cycle controls regulate tumbling speed, tumbling duty cycle and spin speed. Use the normal setting for most fabrics; it has the fastest spin speed (560 RPM/97.8 G-Force). Delicate settings has a slower spin speed (525 RPM/85.9 G-Force). Use the delicate setting for delicate and knitted items.

The extractor runs on 120 volts (watts per load: 110-160 watt hours). Do not plug power supply cord into GFI outlet. This appliance must be grounded. In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, grounding will reduce the risk of electric shock by providing a path of least resistance for electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cord having an equipment grounding  conductor and a grounding plug. The power cord is at the bottom center of the black panel and is 12’ long .

The Ready Rack Extractor is manufactured with a patented stainless steel inner and outer tub as opposed to plastic or porcelain. Extractor also has reversible, variable-speed motor which eliminates the need for a transmission.

Plymovent Crab Return System for Exhaust Removal Systems

Moving cars and trucks in workshops, service facilities, governmental inspection environments and fire stations, emit hazardous fumes into the workshop air. The Crab Return System (CRS) can serve as a core component in the Plymovent exhaust removal system, as it helps extracts these hazardous fumes from the source, and then safely returns the hose and nozzle back to the starting position automatically.

Safety and efficiency on site
The Plymovent Crab Return System improves both worker safety and efficiency. How? By conveniently returning the exhaust extraction hose and nozzle to the precise start position for operators as a vehicle enters the facility. This eliminates the need for an operator to walk through a facility to retrieve it, encouraging the proper usage of the Plymovent vehicle exhaust extraction system and fostering greater productivity.

Because the nozzle is following the movements of the vehicle, the CRS minimises the amount of hose hanging in a facility compared to traditional vehicle exhaust extraction systems. As a result, less obstructions improve the visibility of the operator.

How CRS works
Attach one of the extraction nozzles to the vehicle’s exhaust tailpipe. As the vehicle moves through the facility, the CRS enables the hose to move along with it. When the vehicle exits the facility, the nozzle can be detached manually by the user or automatically. The CRS returns the nozzle and hose to the original starting position by the operator via a remote control, or automatically via a sensor.

Easily retrofitted on existing Plymovent STR
If you already have a Straight Rail System (STR) in use, the CRS can easily be installed upon your STR system and will fit either the internal crab system (IC) or the external crab (EC) system.

Remote control
The unit contains a basic manual remote control start set. It is possible to add more remote controls to the system to create a maximum ease of use out of your Crab Return System.

Another option to return the nozzle is the automatic sensor return trigger to engage the CRS, in conjunction with the well-known Pneumatic or Magnetic Grabbers® of Plymovent.

The Crab Return System includes an emergency override allowing the operator to stop the system at any time.
