Crew Uses Wayne Township (IN) Fire Apparatus to Stop Drifting Truck

 
 

Wayne Township Fire Department says just before 2 p.m. Monday, IMPD was attempting to stop a driver who was drifting on and off the street on Girls School Road near Ben Davis High School. The crew of Engine 85 was on their way to a training even when they noticed the situation and stepped in to help.  

As the truck approached, the crew stopped their fire engine in its path and set the parking brake. The fire engine took a low-speed impact, which brought the truck to a complete stop before it could hit another vehicle or pedestrian.

A new exhibit highlighting the 105-year history of the Edmonds Fire Department is now open for viewing at the Edmonds Historical Museum in Downtown Edmonds. FIRE! Bucket Brigades, Calamity & Conflagration illustrates the department’s beginnings, from its bucket brigade to its long-term agreement with Snohomish County Fire District No.

AED program gets its start on death's doorstep on Bainbridge Island

Jack Sutherland couldn’t breathe. He woke up in a panic. And when he tried to raise his hands to his face, he discovered they were strapped down. Sutherland then opened his eyes and saw his wife Carole, and son, Chris. It was just after 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015. He was in a hospital bed at Harborview Medical Center, and had just come out of the emergency room after being treated for a cardiac arrest.

Illinois fire department might bill insurance companies for vehicle accidents

The Freeport City Council on Monday discussed a potential ordinance change that would allow the Fire Department to bill insurance companies for auto accidents. If approved, the Fire Department would start billing the responsible driver’s insurance company $500 for every accident that firefighters are dispatched to and $1,400 if the driver is extricated from the vehicle.
