Snohomish County firefighters creatively take on the snow

As our region has been threatened with back to back snow storms, the efforts to keep our area accessible has proven to be challenging. Many residents in Snohomish County have seen 18 or more inches of snow over the last week. That amount of snow not only creates hazardous road conditions and additional dangers for citizens, but it has challenged how crews have responded to emergencies.

San Juan Island firefighters climb for Leukemia and Lymphoma awareness

On Saturday, Feb. 23, at Friday Harbor Marketplace from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., San Juan Island Fire and Rescue firefighters will be out in front of the store raising funds for the 2019 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Stairclimb. The firefighters are dedicating their fundraising climb in honor of former San Juan Island Fire District 3 Commissioner John Jensen, who successfully battled multiple myeloma last year.

E-ONE Announces Five-Year Contract with Chicago (IL)

OCALA, FL—E-ONE, a subsidiary of REV Group and a manufacturer of fire apparatus, has announced a five-year contract between the City of Chicago and E-ONE’s authorized dealer Fire Service, Inc., to provide multiple E-ONE apparatus including pumpers, aerials, and platforms.

The City of Chicago has 98 fire stations citywide and it has more than 140 apparatus in service today. This contract will enable the city to replace dated fire apparatus and continue its best in class fire suppression and emergency demands for over 2.7 million citizens. 

The contract allowed the city to examine a dealership and OEM who could manufacturer fire trucks and equipment needed to complement the city with all current NFPA codes and standards in the fire industry and to service the units as needed in the future. 

“This important contract is replacing an aging fleet and equipment and we look forward to working together with the City of Chicago,” said Shawn Junker, Principal of Fire Service, Inc.

Crews investigate cause of fire at Hohl Feed and Seed in Bellingham

Multiple agencies responded to a fire at a feed store in downtown Bellingham Monday morning. The cause of the fire at Hohl Feed & Seed on Railroad Avenue is still under investigation and Bill Hewitt, Assistant Fire Chief at Bellingham Fire, told KOMO the answer could be days away. The fire started at around 4:30 AM, temporarily shutting off power to roughly 200 people nearby.
