San Juan Island firefighters rescue blind, deaf pet dog after fall off cliff into sea

VIDEO - When Cowboy toppled down a 30-foot cliff Monday night San Juan Island Fire & Rescue Firefighters were there to save him. Gretchen Bailey said her hearing- and vision-impaired 14-year-old golden retriever got confused and ended up falling down the cliff on the island’s west side before she could reach him.

Vashon Fire concerned with proposed changes to ferry schedule

A draft of the Triangle Route ferry schedule would not accomplish what Vashon Fire & Rescue sees as a crucial goal. In a letter published Monday, Vashon Fire Chief Charles Krimmert writes that proposed wait times between departures as long as 65 minutes in addition to crossing time would be "perilous" for the fire district and community.

Madisonville (KY) Fire Department Uses Grant Money for New Training Facility

This new training space is made up of three red metal shipping containers. Two of the areas are on the first floor, and another on the second, which even allows for training space on the roof.

Awarded $98,500 in grant money from the Kentucky State Fire Commission, the Madisonville Fire department is proud of their new training facility. It was built late last week and sits behind station No. 4 along Hanson Road.

The design, which has a burn room, and features a forceable entry door, rappel station up on top, a roof ventilation prop, and confined space tube, costs $119,000.

Wake County (NC) Population Boom Leads to Expanded EMS Services

Officials say Wake County is growing by 63 people a day, and many people are moving to the eastern part of the county. To accommodate the growth, Eastern Wake EMS is unveiling a new station in Wendell.
