Six Hurt in Collision with Chicago Fire Apparatus

The Chicago Fire Department confirmed Engine 109 was responding to a call when a van struck the back of the fire truck near 31st and California.  

Four adults and two children were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, all in critical condition, the fire department said.

Yakima firefighter injured in abandoned house fire

Firefighters say a vacant house has burned down in what appears to be a suspicious fire. Crews with the Yakima Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 704 N 20th Ave. around 1 a.m. Monday and arrived to find a two-story house on fire. Seattle: Convicted arsonist Martin Pang seeks legal name change

A convicted arsonist who was recently released from prison after causing the death of four Seattle firefighters is trying to change his legal name. The Tri-City Herald reports that a petition for Martin Shaw Pang to change his name to Mark Sun Lee will be heard on Nov. 14 in Benton County District Court.

Mississippi firefighter killed in crash responding to fire

The cold and rainy night on Sunday seemed fitting in the town of Magee, given the sad and mournful emotion felt throughout the community, since Saturday's accident which killed 34-year-old volunteer firefighter Dustin Grubbs, while on his way to fight a structure fire. Black ribbons are seen adorned all along the outside the Magee Fire Dept.

Retired Atlanta fire chief picked to lead Austin Fire Department

Austin City Manager Spencer Cronk has selected retired Atlanta Fire Chief Joel Baker to be the next head of the Austin Fire Department, replacing former Fire Chief Rhoda Mae Kerr, who retired this summer. Baker was selected from a pool of 84 candidates, who included finalists Laredo Fire Chief Steve Landin and Fire Chief Kevin McGee of Prince William County, Va.
