Four family members managed to escape a two-alarm fire that heavily damaged their home in Kent early Thursday morning. Multiple witnesses called 911 around 4 a.m. reporting flames shooting from the home in the 26500 block of 115th Place SE, according to Kyle Ohashi with Puget Sound Fire. When firefighters arrived, they found the entire front of the home engulfed in flames, along with two burning cars in the driveway.

Fire District 5 is in dire need of volunteers, according to the station's chief Jay Foster. "If nobody comes out and there's a fire, they ain't going to have no help. They ain't going to have no help for a long time," he said. The station currently has 11 volunteers, all on-call. Only seven are trained firefighters and even fewer are EMTs.
