Tri-City fire district searches for more volunteers to staff fire stations

Fire districts across the Tri-Cities rely on volunteers. It allows districts to save money and still provide top-notch care to the community Volunteers are always needed, but you don't have to become a firefighter in order to volunteer. "I'm not a firefighter. I have no firefighter background," said Bill Leach, volunteer for Benton County Fire District #4.

Ada County (ID) Paramedics Unveils Armored Ambulance

Ada County Paramedics' tactical medical team has unveiled an armored ambulance to be dispatched for situations like the Boise Bench shooting.      

The TacMed team leader says previously there wasn't a seamless way to respond to hazards like that. He says swat's armored vehicle is not equipped to transport patients who need advanced life support and it wasn't always readily available.

With contract talks still stalled, Seattle EMTs set strike deadline of Dec. 21

Hundreds of unionized emergency medical technicians (EMTs) in Seattle have set a deadline of Dec. 21 to go on strike, calling into question how the city plans to respond to people in medical crisis if they walk off the job. City officials say they are working on a plan, but won’t say what it is until a strike is called.

Belpre (OH) Fire Station's Solar Panels Approved

Belpre Mayor Mike Lorentz said the projections are to offset the energy needs of the station and to return a bit more to the grid.  

"It will be a savings to us by about 10 percent," Lorentz said. "And yes they will actually generate enough to have them sell some back to the grid, to AEP."

Gainesville Fire-Rescue (TX) Celebrates New Fire Apparatus

In January, Gainesville City Council members approved the lease-purchase of the 75-foot aerial ladder truck for a total cost of $724,383.  

 

Quint 3 will be replacing Engine 3, a 1997 pumper that was a frontline engine for 21 years
