One year after a firefighter's deadly fall, Los Angeles is fighting an order from state safety regulators

It was supposed to be a routine training exercise: firefighters climbing a ladder to the roof of a six-story building in downtown Los Angeles, as though the structure were on fire. On that June morning in 2017, firefighter Kelly Wong made it more than halfway up the ladder, leaning against the Barclay Hotel at a 73-degree angle.

New Jersey firefighter suspended after allegedly crashing firetruck during joyride

A Ridgefield Park volunteer firefighter has been suspended after allegedly taking a firetruck on a joyride two weeks ago and striking a utility pole. The firefighter, Connor O’Grady, allegedly took one of the firetrucks out for a ride at about 10 p.m. on July 13 with a firefighter from Bogota steering the rear of the rig, according to Mayor George Fosdick.

Pullman Firefighters Union: 'We just need additional staff'

Billowing black smoke rises from a house. Three firefighters arrive on scene but are unable to enter unless they know someone is in need of a rescue. So, they watch the flames grow. According to the Washington Administrative Code, firefighters are not authorized to enter a burning building unless four or more firefighters are on scene.

Wildfire forces evacuation of state park on Lake Chelan

Crews continue to battle two wildfires near Lake Chelan. The 25 Mile Creek Fire has forced level 3 evacuations, which means go now, at Twenty-Five Mile Creek State Park on the west bank of Lake Chelan. The evacuations begin at milepost 9.5 on South Lakeshore Road and extend to the west, including Hale Road and Shady Pass.

Woman, dog survive house fire in Liberty Lake

VIDEO: One woman and a dog survived a house fire that sparked Sunday night at a home in Liberty Lake. According to the Spokane Valley Fire Department, it happened on the 1300 block of Wright Blvd. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes, but the house it started at was seriously damaged.
