CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Officials said no firefighters were injured when a driver slammed into the back of a fire truck working a crash on the Chippenham Parkway in Chesterfield County Sunday morning. Sgt. Keeli Hill with Virginia State Police said troopers were called to the two-vehicle crash involving the fire engine along Route 150 just north of Hopkins Road around 11:45 a.m.
This latest crash comes afterÂ
Hanover firefighter Lt. Brad Clark was killed, and three other firefighters were injured, when the driver of a tractor-trailer drove into their firetruck as they were working a crash on I-295 during Tropical Storm Michael on Oct. 11.

Although the 2018 midterm election results weren’t certified until yesterday, East Pierce Fire and Rescue celebrated the likely passage of their bond measure during the Nov. 20 Fire Commissioners meeting.
As of Monday, Nov. 26, the 20-year, $80 million bond measure was passing with 60.25 percent of the vote.

Retirement was looking good for Alicia Welch. After more than 26 years in the Los Angeles Fire Department, she moved to Golden and was skiing, mountain biking, and was learning to play golf. Then she saw that the Golden Fire Department needed a new fire chief. Those golf clubs would have to be used on weekends.

St. Paul firefighter Joaquin Rosales and several of his colleagues rushed to a pile of rubble on the city’s East Side Friday morning when an unusually large explosion destroyed a home and damaged several buildings.
They were searching amid piles of debris and exposed nails when Rosales heard moaning and groaning.

Serving as the top cop or fire chief in a big city comes with a lot of expectations — waves of mayhem to prevent, thousands of employees to oversee and all of the politics that come with being one of the most recognizable figures on the street.
In return, most police and fire chiefs also can expect to be well compensated, even if they aren’t working in one of the nation’s largest cities.
