Woman admitted she set blaze that killed two Kansas City firefighters, according to testimony

The woman charged with arson, murder, assault and causing a catastrophe in a blaze that killed two Kansas City firefighters admitted her guilt to a fellow detainee soon after being arrested, according to testimony given Wednesday. Thu Hong Nguyen told Misty Levron that she set a fire that killed people by using liquid in her nail salon, Levron testified Wednesday at Nguyen’s trial.

Weather conditions continue to pose fire dangers in Yakima, Kittitas Valleys

Dry, windy weather conditions have caused a Red Flag Warning to take effect for two more days in Central Washington, including the Yakima Valley area, according to weather officials. Evacuated residents return to homes as crews mop up fire on Beacon Hill

People returned to their homes in the Beacon Hill area Wednesday morning after a fast-moving wildfire burned more than 115 acres and forced evacuations. Two structures were lost, including a home near the fire’s origin on Upriver Drive. A double-wide trailer and garage off Valley Spring Road also burned.

Teens make a splash at 2018 Fire Camp in Snohomish County

Thirty-five teens from across Snohomish County are getting the rare opportunity to spend this week immersing themselves (often literally) in the world of firefighting, thanks to South Snohomish Fire’s annual Kids Fire Camp program. Administered through Lynnwood Parks and Recreation, the camp itself is run and staffed by South County fire fighters, all of whom volunteer their time without pay to help mentor kids while introducing them to some of the special skills that firefighters use every day on the job.
