Firefighters said two South Pierce firefighters risked their lives to save a young girl with special needs from a burning home in Graham on Friday.
The girl later passed away at the hospital.
Even for firefighters, the call needed them to go above and beyond; an 11-year-old girl was trapped inside her Graham home, engulfed in flames.

Lewis County officials are beginning to discuss what steps they would need to take to eliminate and replace all dashed address numbers within the county. Such a move would be in step with other Washington counties that have made the change with the goal of bettering public safety response times and making life easier for other parties — including mail carriers and utility companies.

Benton County Fire District #1 has had their hands full with fire calls this summer, but another thing keeping them on their toes is medical calls.
The problem is they don't have any ambulances to take of them.
BCFD #1 is asking residents to vote on a levy that would help them get two ambulances and hire personnel to staff them.

Daniel Lyon, the firefighter who was severely burned in the 2015 Twisp River Fire, has filed a lawsuit against the Okanogan County Electric Cooperative (OCEC), alleging that the co-op’s negligence and recklessness in maintaining trees near powerlines ignited the deadly fire.
The lawsuit, filed May 30 in Okanogan County Superior Court, seeks unspecified damages for Lyon’s physical and mental pain and injuries, disability and loss of earnings.

Two large travel trailers and a smaller pop-up trailer were a complete loss at the Whatcom Meadows Camping Association south of Lake Whatcom after Whatcom County Fire District No. 18 battled a fire Thursday evening.
