Former Junior Firefighter Allegedly Stole PA Fire Truck

Former junior firefighter arrested after rescue unit and gear taken from Strinestown Fire Company

YORK COUNTY, Pa.-- UPDATE: Police have arrested a 15-year-old former junior firefighter after he allegedly stole a fire truck and rescue gear. On August 12 around 1:20 a.m., police investigated a burglary from Strinestown Community Fire Company.
 

Teen Allegedly Took Turnout Gear, Apparatus

A 15-year-old former junior firefighter allegedly broke into a Strinestown (PA) fire station, put on firefighting gear, and stole a $750,000 fire truck and took it for a joy ride, according to recent reports.

The vehicle ended up miles away after getting stuck in the mud, A report. There was no serious damage to the fire truck. The youth is back in juvenile detention.

West Pierce County Battalion Chief: Ketron Island man's tractor helps firefighters get to Horizon crash site

When a stolen Horizon Q400 plane crashed in dense forest on Ketron Island in Puget Sound Friday evening, it not only killed pilot Richard Russell, but created quite the fire. Ketron Island does not have a fire department, and typically any fire there would be covered by the state Department of Natural Resources.

Grass Valley Fire holds at 74,000 acres; burned firefighter in satisfactory condition

A firefighter injured while fighting a large wildfire in Douglas County is stable at a Seattle hospital, and the fire itself held steady overnight Sunday as the weather cooperated and additional resources came in. The Grass Valley Fire remained at roughly 74,000 acres Monday morning - about the same size it was measured on Sunday, according to incident spokesperson Ben Shearer, and is now 10 percent contained.

Miriam fire near White Pass is now at 2,236 acres with 9 percent containment

The Miriam Fire near White Pass, which started in July, is now at 2,236 acres and it is 9-percent contained. According to a press release, firefighters have finished working on the Ginnette Lake to Twin Peaks area. Crews are still utilizing structure protection work on ski area structures. There is a new Emergency Area Closure that has been issued for the Clear Fork Fire (located in the Goat Rocks Wilderness on the Gifford Pinchot National Forest) expanding the current closure area associated with the Miriam Fire.

Firefighters Hospitalized After Truck Rollover

Members Treated After Accident

Two firefighters with the China Spring (TX) Volunteer Fire Department were hospitalized after getting into an accident on the way to a call.

According to a report from KXXV, the truck the members were traveling in was struck from behind. This caused the truck to roll and land on a parked backhoe.

The firefighters were transported, evaluated, and discharged, the report said.
