Police: Explosive Device Dropped Off at Grants Pass (OR) Fire Station

As of 12:01 p.m., East Park Street was closed between Parkdale Drive and Golden Park. East Park at the Baker Park entrance was also closed, along with the Grants Pass Parkway southbound at M Street.  

The Oregon State Police bomb squad was deployed to the area.

Milton (GA) Firefighters Get Bullet Resistant Fire Equipment

"Last year's incident in Las Vegas reinforced the need to protect our personnel during an active shooter situation," said Milton Fire Chief Robert Edgar. "We need to respond to the injured quickly and in doing so, we need to know our firefighters are protected."  

With a rise in mass casualty events, there is an increased need for rapid triage and treatment of patients before law enforcement can completely secure the situation. More than $19,000 in custom equipment will provide the added protection firefighters need while responding in an active environment. The special design increases personal safety, but allows the flexibility firefighters need when providing emergency medical services to the injured.

Refurbished Fire Apparatus Headed to Honduras

Other Alberta firefighters got involved, along with Rotary clubs and businesses; now the truck is on its way, having been stuffed with equipment such as air tanks and breathing apparatuses.   In a statement, Captain Wilmer Guerro of the Roatán Bomberos du Honduras Fire Department, said the fire truck is very important for his community.   “We feel very excited and grateful at the same time to be considered for such an invaluable contribution to our town...We thank each of those who are making this project a reality and are grateful for all our friends in Canada.”

Soldier Arrives Home in Ohio Fire Apparatus

When a fire truck with its sirens blaring passed their house, Tawny, 7, and Brea, 5, of Blue Rock, Ohio, just outside Columbus, took notice. And, they were all tears of joy when Gottke stepped off the truck, surprising them.  

"Daddy! Daddy's here!" Tawny exclaimed, giving him a huge kiss on the cheek.

WASHINGTON FIRE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT PROTOCOLS UPDATE

In accordance with the Washington Fire Chiefs' Bylaws, and the WFC Fire Administrative Support current Protocols, the recommended updated version of the protocols has been posted 30 days before conference

The updated protocols will be voted on by members at the WFAS conference in Walla Walla, Washington on Monday, May 7th.
