Firefighters: Shop fire burns power lines in Kennewick

Firefighters are trying to contain a shop fire that has burned power lines in Kennewick. Action News learned this fire caused power lines to spark and go down in the area of Gum Street and 23rd, around 6 p.m., Tuesday. Police have blocked roads in the area. Drivers are asked to use a different route.

Woman found dead after fire heavily damages SeaTac mobile home

The body of a woman was found inside a burned mobile home after firefighters extinguished a blaze that heavily damaged the structure Tuesday, officials said. The first report of the fire came shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday from a person inside the double-wide mobile home at 18100 block of 36th Place South, officials said.

Rockland (ME) Fire Department Receives Grant for Fire Equipment

That effort netted a $25,000 grant from the Stephen and Tabitha King Foundation to pay for new airpacks for firefighters. In addition, the department has applied for a $235,000 Federal Emergency Management Agency grant to replace the remaining 26 airpacks.  

The frames of the packs were bought in 1992 and upgraded in 2001, based on 1997 standards.

"We're looking for alternative ways to fund the department," Whytock said.
