Benton County Fire District Four pushes bond

Benton County Fire District Four is looking to lower response times and add a new station to help the West Richland community. Fire Chief Bill Whealan said response times in the area have hit 17 minutes which can be deadly. Whealan said the window of life for someone that has stopped breathing is six to 10 minutes.

1 hospitalized after fire at Edmonds mobile home park clubhouse

A two-story clubhouse at an Edmonds mobile home park was heavily damaged in an overnight fire, officials said. Crews responded to the scene, the Ridge Acres Mobile Home Park in the 23100 block of Edmonds Way, at around midnight Sunday after receiving reports of smoke and flames there. Flames were shooting from the building when firefighters arrived.

Is Station 31 making Seattle firefighters sick? Study hopes to find answers about ‘Cancer House’

For years, firefighters at Seattle’s Station 31 have worried that the place where they barbecue steak and try to sleep between calls might be making them sick. Red flags were first raised in the early 2000s, after a string of firefighters were diagnosed with cancer. But a subsequent study found no link between the station and the illness.

Man found dead in Bellevue home scorched by fire

A man was found dead after a fire broke out inside his Bellevue home Sunday evening. Firefighters were called to the home just before 9:30 p.m., and arrived to find a fire on the back side of the home, according to Lt. Camari Olson with Bellevue Fire. They had difficulty getting into the home due to a large number of items inside, and had to cut down a window to gain access.
