Construction on Schedule for New Hallowell (ME) Fire Station

The project should to be fully completed by the end of June, said Seymour, who serves as the Fire Department’s public information officer. The department will operate in the new station once the trucks are inside, and construction crews will continue finishing the firehouse at the same time.  

The 5,300-square-foot station in Hallowell will include a chief’s office, a training room, a lounge and sleeping space, two bathrooms, a kitchen and conference room. The garage is 64 feet long and 56 feet wide with enough room for three modern firetrucks.

Fire destroys Manson home

A woman escaped a structure fire in Manson this morning but the single wide trailer she was renting is a complete loss. Manson Fire (CCFD #5) Chief Arnold Baker said the woman was cooking when she noticed arcing underneath the stove. The arcing continued after she turned the stove off so she called 911 and exited the home.

Trustees Approve Benton Township (MI) Fire Apparatus Repairs

From an estimate description given to trustees, Restoration Diesel – based in Marcellus – would remove the old cradle and inspect for any further problems. The rear step support also needs to be replaced.  

The estimated costs would be $12,000 to $14,000.

Beacon Falls (CT) Buys New Fire Apparatus

The selectmen unanimously supported buying a 2017 Pierce Manufacturing Inc. firetruck for $850,000 from Firematic Supply Company Inc. out of Rocky Hill.  

Under the contract, the town will pay $840,000 upfront and the final $10,000 after upgrades are made and the truck is delivered. The upgrades include new tires, lowering the gearing of the truck to make it better able to handle the town’s topography, and painting and lettering to match the other trucks in Beacon Hose’s fleet.

Florence (AL) City Council Approves Fire Apparatus, Another Out for Bid

During their Tuesday morning meeting, the city council voted to purchase an $800,000 ladder truck to replace a 21-year-old tower truck. According to Chief Perkins, that’s just one piece of the puzzle.

 

It will likely take up to 12-months to get the new trucks built and put in service. In the meantime, the council will spend $24-thousand to lease two fire trucks which were delivered Tuesday afternoon. Chief Perkins said this will give the department mechanic time to give each truck a thorough inspection and fix any problems.
