Brief fire at Vancouver medical building clears floor of patients, employees

The Vancouver Fire Department responded to what was likely an electrical fire at PeaceHealth Southwest’s Memorial Campus on Tuesday morning, but hospital staff already had it extinguished. Fire engines were dispatched to the hospital at 7:48 a.m., said Vancouver firefighter and paramedic Pete Adams.

Romania Plans to Replace Fire Apparatus and Equipment with EU Funding

Arafat hopes old cars will become history in two – three years, should the ongoing EUR 600 million tender be successful. The funds allotted from this budget would allow to buy some 500 fire trucks.  

Bucharest will also have 13 new firefighter units, with fund allotted for four of them this year.

Emergency intervention services in Romania are also equipped with old ambulances, many of which already a mileage above 1 million kilometers, according to Arafat. Over 60% of the ambulances used by the Ambulance Service and by the emergency rescue service SMURD are older than ten years. Tenders are ongoing for three types of ambulances, and the first new ones should arrive this year.

American Medical Response Employee, Patient Killed in Rollover Accident in Las Vegas

According to NHP, the driver of the vehicle lost control while transporting a nonambulatory patient to a skilled nursing facility. The vehicle went into the embankment and rolled over on the Interstate 15 junction to westbound Interstate 215. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash but noted it was raining in the area and the roads were slick. 

Scott White, regional director for AMR and Medicwest, said the vehicle began transporting the patient at 11:29 p.m. and at 11:48 p.m. the driver called out "mayday" twice over the radio. Dispatch then notified the supervisor. Supervisors and other first responders went to the scene.
