Auditor raps Clark County Fire District 6 for accounting problems

Clark County Fire District 6’s internal accounting system led to more than $9 million in errors in calculating its liabilities in 2015 and 2016, according to the State Auditor’s Office, which blamed the problems on district staff’s lack of training in the system and knowledge of state reporting requirements.

Marshall (TX) First Motorized Fire Apparatus Returns Home

Brian Daugbjerg, who owns Longview Scrap & Metal Co. with Doug Allen, said they don't know how the pumper ended up at their yard more than 30 years ago but was always advised by his father-in-law, the previous owner of the business, never to sell it.

"He would say it's the only thing here not for sale," Daugbjerg said. "We knew exactly what it was because we have some old historical photos of it in action sitting in downtown Marshall. We knew it was the city of Marshall's. We knew it was approaching over 100 years old now."

Daugbjerg said they've told firefighters in the past that they would love to return the engine to Marshall in hopes it could someday be restored.
