ESO Solutions Celebrates Upgrade of 1,000th EMS Agency to NEMSIS 3 Data Standard

AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 21, 2017 -- ESO Solutions, Inc., the leading data and software company serving emergency medical services, fire departments, and hospitals, announced that it recently upgraded its 1,000th customer to the new NEMSIS 3 data standard. Cape Fear Valley Mobile Integrated Healthcare, headquartered in Fayetteville, NC, was the 1,000th agency to upgrade.

NEMSIS 3 is the new National EMS Information System data standard under which emergency medical services (EMS) collect patient medical data via their electronic patient care record (ePCR) software, and report it to their states for analysis. States in turn report statewide data to a national database. EMS agencies nationwide are transitioning from the old NEMSIS 2 standard to NEMSIS 3 on a state-by-state basis, working with their ePCR software vendors to do so.

“For a fire department or EMS organization, a successful transition to NEMSIS 3 means more than just having software that collects and submits data in the new format – it means having access to their data and having it be usable,” said Kenny Schnell, Vice President and General Manager of ESO Electronic Health Record (EHR). “ESO is the only major ePCR software vendor that allows its agencies to access their old NEMSIS 2 data at the same time they access their new NEMSIS 3 data, giving them the ability to monitor trends in patient care and operations over time, without forcing them to export old data and merge it with their new NEMSIS 3 data.”

“We’re proud to have been the 1,000th ESO customer to make the transition to NEMSIS 3,” said Brian Hehl, Training and Credentialing Officer at Cape Fear Valley Mobile Integrated Healthcare. “We’re looking forward to the greater depth of data that NEMSIS 3 will provide for our research into evidence-based medicine to improve patient care,” he added.

According to company officials, 2017 has been a busy year at ESO. In addition to upgrading a large percentage of its ePCR/EHR customer base to NEMSIS 3, the company acquired both SafetyPAD and FIREHOUSE® Software during the year. Earlier this year, ESO EHR ranked at the very top of a national survey on ePCR/EHR usability conducted by the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT), earning the highest scores in all categories — system usefulness, information quality, interface quality, and overall usability.
