Fire heavily damages old Ridgefield-area home

Firefighters pulled an elderly couple to safety as they attempted to use a garden hose to douse a fire in their house north of Ridgefield on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the 29900 block of Northwest 71st Avenue around 1:30 p.m. Clark County Fire & Rescue spokesman Tim Dawdy said one 911 call indicated firefighters were heading to a barn fire, but it turned out to be in an old home.

Update: Man arrested in Moses Lake for Spokane arson sentenced to 18 years in prison

A man who was arrested in Moses Lake after throwing lit Molotov cocktails into a Spokane home on July 21, 2016 has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. The sentencing was handed down this week in a Spokane court. 38-year old Cameron Butler formerly of Broward County, Florida pleaded guilty on Nov. 9, 2017 to Possession of an Unregistered Destructive Device (a Molotov cocktail), Interstate Stalking, and Possession of Child Pornography.

Cherokee (GA) Approves Campground Fire Station Lease

The Holbrook Campground Volunteer Fire Department constructed the station at 2250 Holbrook Campground Road, Alpharetta, in the late 1970s.

With the recent consolidation of volunteer fire services, the lease agreement with the county establishes a legal basis for the fire department to continue operating a fire station on the property, staff said in a report to commissioners. The $1-a-year agreement runs for one year with an automatic renewal for five successive, one-year terms.

Construction on Schedule for New Hallowell (ME) Fire Station

The project should to be fully completed by the end of June, said Seymour, who serves as the Fire Department’s public information officer. The department will operate in the new station once the trucks are inside, and construction crews will continue finishing the firehouse at the same time.  

The 5,300-square-foot station in Hallowell will include a chief’s office, a training room, a lounge and sleeping space, two bathrooms, a kitchen and conference room. The garage is 64 feet long and 56 feet wide with enough room for three modern firetrucks.

Fire destroys Manson home

A woman escaped a structure fire in Manson this morning but the single wide trailer she was renting is a complete loss. Manson Fire (CCFD #5) Chief Arnold Baker said the woman was cooking when she noticed arcing underneath the stove. The arcing continued after she turned the stove off so she called 911 and exited the home.
