One person died in an abandoned building fire early Wednesday morning in Tacoma. Authorities say the abandoned building near S. 19th and Tacoma Ave. had become a homeless encampment. Firefighters were called around 3:00 a.m. to reports of fire at a commercial building. Crews discovered mounds of trash inside the building which made it tough for them to get in and attack the flames.

Union officials say 12 off-duty firefighters were shot while attending a country music festival in Las Vegas, including two who were wounded while administering CPR to gunshot victims.
